Straight talking, results driven and ‘up for a fight’ sums up IWG’s litigation department. “Many litigators in other firms appear to be fearful of litigating,” says head of department David Ingram. “But we relish a fight and never shy away from the same. We hate losing and get very involved with clients’ needs.”
no nonsense advice and gets results…
The firm acts for a variety of clients from private individuals and small businesses to public companies, banks and institutions. David says they come to IWG because it gives “no nonsense advice and gets results”.
The firm covers all areas of commercial, real property, intellectual property, insurance, fraud and employment litigation. Recent cases include:
- Two Court of Appeal cases. In the first, the firm successfully acted for the defendant landlord in a case concerning equipment leasing. In the second, IWG defeated an application by former directors to remove an administrator from office.
- Successfully acting for a liquidator in a high profile battle over the ownership of a multi-million pound property estate in Surrey.
- Conducting successful claims against insurance companies in respect of a wide range of coverage disputes.
- Acting for various banks and lenders in claims against professional advisors for negligence and fraud, leading to eight figure sums for IWG’s clients.
- Acting for the majority shareholder in a manufacturing company in dispute with a minority shareholder. The minority shareholder alleges, amongst other things, that he was wrongly excluded from the running of the business and that he did not receive dividend payments to which he was entitled. The dispute is now the subject of an unfair prejudice action in the High Court.
Partner Divyesh Popat says the firm gets results because “we understand our clients’ problems. We know how to fix them quickly and efficiently and we exceed their expectations.”
This is borne out by client feedback. Ronnie Green of Countrywide PLC describes the firm as “brilliant”.
“I use other firms every now and again because I’m part of a big group,” he says. “But they’re a lot quicker and more efficient. They are head and shoulders above.”
Professional and Knowledgeable
Ashley Rubin of Shield Homes Limited is similarly impressed. “IWG are a very professional and knowledgeable firm,” he says. “I liked working with Sanjay Chandarana. He was attentive, sensible and didn’t put us down his list of priorities even if he had bigger cases to handle.”
unstuffy, personable and accessible…
Clients also appreciate what Jonathan Cranston of Ashley Finance describes as the “unstuffy, personable and accessible” people in the department.
Ashley Rubin sums up by saying “IWG are an invaluable asset to our company”.
