Financing of iron mining project in Indonesia

In 2011, IWG acted on a US$28.2 million financing of an iron mining project in Java, Indonesia.  The financing was by way of subscription for exchangeable loan notes by an investment Limited Partnership.

A US$170 million bank financing of the same project has now been completed, in which IWG represented the investment Limited Partnership.  IWG co-ordinated a team of foreign legal advisers, including Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (Hong Kong) Harneys (Cayman and BVI) and Melli Darsa (Indonesia).

The Limited Partnership was advised by Salamanca Capital, which also arranged the 2011 loan note financing.   The bank lender was represented by White & Case, Hong Kong.  Other participants were legally represented by O’Melveny & Myers, Norton Rose and Minter Ellison.  The borrower was advised by Citibank.

The IWG team was led by Colin Winter and Tanveer Tarafdar.
