Colin Winter

corporate Department

Colin is a founding partner of IWG, and head of its Corporate Department. He studied law at Manchester University and in the early part of his career, he practised at Lovell White & King (now Hogan Lovells) and was a partner in the major Australian law firm Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper).

Colin specialises in creating bespoke and innovative funding structures. In recent years he has focussed on financial innovation, helping clients establish and manage FinTech platforms, equity and debt crowdfunding structures, collective investment schemes, alternative investment funds, peer to peer platforms, investment syndication/participation structures, electronic money systems and cryptocurrencies. He is able to guide clients through the often-dizzying maze of FCA and other regulation surrounding these arrangements.

He also advises on a wide range of international and domestic corporate transactions, including private equity/venture capital, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, secured lending, corporate re-structuring and pre-IPO financing.

His transactional and advisory experience covers a wide range of jurisdictions, including the US, Brazil, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, India, Australasia, and much of continental Europe. In cross-border transactions, Colin regularly provides a project management function for clients, co-ordinating multiple teams of foreign lawyers.
